I want to elaborate on what Esoteric Christianity is and what it means for the Black christian community. I’m targeting the black christian community specifically because I believe with all that’s going on now, this revelation will give them a sense of hope and the assurance that the Lord is with them. I also feel that racism is can be better understood from a spiritual perspective. But before I dive into the spiritual secrets of black oppression and racism, I want to provide a basic explanation of Esoteric Christianity.
In a nutshell, Esoteric Christianity is derived from the spiritual meaning of the Bible. The “spiritual meaning” can be defined as the interpretation of the Bible’s metaphors and allegories. The Bible was written this way in order to appeal to the minds of different kinds of people. Such as those that are satisfied with the literal presentation and for those that desire a deeper meaning to life.
In other words, the traditional christian takes the Bible literally which is fine. But, some Christians are hungry and want to see a deeper biblical context and relation to their lives. For some Christians, the simple stories from Sunday School are not enough. As children grow older and mature in the world, the old christian stories are abandoned and replaced with more intellectual and rationally driven explanations life. Direct life experiences are better explained by friends and other role models. Pastors and preachers try to apply the stories and scriptures to real world scenarios, but it is not enough. The church still can’t answer basic questions about life with enough detail.
Classic questions such as:
Why am I here?
What is my purpose?
What is the meaning of life?
Is there life after death?
Why do bad things happen to good people?
And so on…..
Esoteric Christianity has logically answered these questions by decoding the Bible’s spiritual meaning. You could say that God should just give us the answers straight, but not everyone is concerned enough to ask these questions. And when they do ask, they don’t necessarily care about the answers. They are usually just in a state of curiosity or perhaps in a state of depression or anxiety. Most of the time, people don’t seek the truth, they seek comfort. So God doesn’t force the truth onto these people. Instead, he gives people the freedom to seek the truth on their own.
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:“
“For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
As an example, the spiritual meaning of the above verse has to do with studying the spiritual meaning the word. The words ask, seek, find, and knock symbolically represents a person’s desire for spiritual insight. Which usually involves the person routinely thinking deeply or critically about the spiritual knowledge’s attained from the word (via Esoteric writings). And the word opened, represents the Lord revealing the spiritual truth in the form of one’s understanding of it.
In the coming posts, I will be providing more specific information on the spiritual relation to black oppression and racism.
